As temperatures rise, it will be more important to stay hydrated.

But not everyone can get the water they need, like homeless people. That lack of water can make the heat more dangerous.

Community of Caring wants to help. It's an emergency shelter in Erie.

It has dozens of beds for men and women.

“Even though it's summer, maybe on any given night, we might have a few beds available,” said Christine Tombaugh, executive director of Community of Caring.

They’re asking for people to donate cases of bottled water. They call it ‘The Water Drop.’

“And then what we do is we just put tubs and coolers out front with ice, and then any of the homeless people that come by can have a nice, cold bottle of water,” she said.

It’s the third year they’ve done it.

“It’s really benefited the homeless people…cooling them off in the hot sun,” Tombaugh said. “The community has been very generous.”

They’ll take as many as they can get so they can help as many people as they can.

They’ll be accepting donations of cases of water throughout the summer at their location, 245 East 8th St. in Erie.
