There is an observance of Juneteenth happening Saturday, where Reverend Darrell Cook hopes that people can support local black businesses, such as Sunoco on the corner of West 12th and French Street.

He said this observance is not just looking back on Black history, but American history.

Cook said that they have a responsibility not just to look back, but to also pay it forward.
