Erie Insurance has resumed full business operations following a recent information security incident that prompted a temporary system shutdown. As of July 7, 2025, the company confirmed that all key services and systems have been safely and securely restored.

Customers can now fully access their accounts and make one-time payments online at ErieInsurance.com. Local agents, claims teams, and customer care representatives have also returned to their regular operations.

“We have resumed full business operations,” the company said in a statement. “Key services and systems have been safely and securely restored, and our local agents, claims teams, and customer care teams have returned to regular ways of serving customers.”

The outage, which began June 7 due to a proactive system shutdown, was implemented to contain a potential threat. Erie Insurance has since completed a thorough forensics investigation with independent cybersecurity specialists and confirmed that there is no evidence any sensitive personal information, financial records, or legally protected data was breached during the incident.

“Our recovery efforts were guided by some of the nation’s leading cybersecurity experts,” Erie Insurance said. “This process was intentional and phased to ensure the highest level of security and service.”

Erie Insurance expressed gratitude to its customers, agents, and partners for their patience and understanding during the recovery period, adding: “For more than 100 years, Erie Insurance has taken pride in being there for customers when they need us most.”
