Erie Firefighters and Lavery Brewing Honor Fallen Firefighter with Lager Launch and Community Fundraiser

Erie Firefighters IAFF Local 293 and Lavery Brewing are teaming up to pay tribute to the late firefighter Mike Callaghan with the release of a special brew in his honor.
Callaghan’s Irish Lager will debut at a community event on Friday, June 27, from 6 to 10 p.m. in “The Bunker”, the event space behind Lavery Brewing, located at 128 West 12th Street.
The event is free and open to the public, featuring live music by Wicked Goose from 7 to 9 p.m., firefighter guest bartenders, and merchandise sales.
All proceeds will benefit the Veterans Miracle Center Erie.
Callaghan served the Erie Fire Department for 28 years, including time as a firefighter, driver, and founding member of the department’s water rescue team.
He died in April 2023 following a 12-year battle with occupational cancer.
“Mike Callaghan was a true representative of what the Erie Fire Department is all about tradition, service, and sacrifice,” said IAFF Local 293 President Gregg Wells. “He loved every aspect of being a firefighter and embraced his firefighter family with all of his heart. He is sorely missed by all who knew him.”
The event celebrates Callaghan’s legacy while supporting a local veteran's organization, two causes that reflect his lifelong dedication to service.
