Dozens of Cats and Kittens in Need of Homes After a Tornado Tears Through Great Valley

Earlier this month, a powerful F1 tornado tore through the small town of Great Valley, ripping apart barns, and leaving behind a trail of destruction and dozens of displaced animals.
32 cats and kittens were found in the aftermath by volunteers who refused to let them be forgotten.
Melanie Pritchard, a member of the animal rescue group CLAWS (Cat Lives Are Worth Saving), shared the emotional toll and urgent need now facing the group.
"We have 17 kittens, 4 of them are less than a week old, and 15 adult cats ranging from 1-3 years old," she said.
In a nod to their resilience, the cats were given names like Twister, Fujita, Dorothy, and Cumulus.
The rescue began when a local resident found the cats and began pulling them from the debris.
CLAWS volunteers stepped in to shelter them, but they are a small group, and the need for help is far from over.
“These animals need homes more than anything,” Melanie said. “They’ve already survived the unthinkable.”
A GoFundMe campaign is live to help with the cost of care:
