Radio Association of Erie Invites Public to Amateur Radio Field Day, June 28-29
Local amateur radio enthusiasts will join thousands across North America for the annual Amateur Radio Field Day, taking place Saturday and Sunday, June 28–29, at the Radio Association of Erie Clubhouse, located at 3940 Wagner Road, McKean Township.
Hosted by the Radio Association of Erie, the event is part of a national effort that dates back to 1933, designed to highlight the science, service, and skill behind amateur radio.
Field Day participants set up temporary radio stations to demonstrate emergency communications capabilities in real-world conditions.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the event, which kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday and continues non-stop until 2 p.m. Sunday.
Attendees will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations, talk with licensed operators, and learn how amateur radio plays a vital role in emergency preparedness and community service.
For those curious about the world of "ham" radio, this is a unique chance to explore the technology, ask questions, and even try making a contact on the air.
