Local Leaders Attend LGBTQ+ Rights Training as Erie Prepares for Pride Weekend
As Pride Month nears its close, Erie’s LGBTQ+ community is gearing up for a big weekend of celebration, and local leaders are taking steps to ensure inclusion and equity remain a priority.
On Wednesday, the Erie County Human Relations Commission hosted a special training session titled “Pride, Protection, and Practice” at the Blasco Library.
The event brought together social workers, marriage and family therapists, and professional counselors to learn more about the legal protections in place for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Organizers say the goal is simple but critical: to help professionals better understand and uphold the rights of every person, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
The training comes as the city prepares for a weekend packed with Pride events, including the annual parade and festival downtown.
