On Thursday evening, Erie celebrated World Refugee Day in Perry Square.

The day was originally known as Africa Refugee Day, but the United Nations General Assembly recognized it as an international day back in December 2000.

The event was put on by the Erie Downtown Partnership, Erie Arts and Culture, Erie Art Museum, The City of Erie, Catholic Charities, the Multicultural Resource Center, expERIEnce Children's Museum, and the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants.
