Blue Coats Erie Provides Statement Following Charges Against Executive Director Roscoe Carroll
The Blue Coats Erie has issued a public statement following felony charges filed against Executive Director Roscoe Carroll Sr., who is among four individuals accused of operating a commercial sex ring out of an Erie-based fitness and spa business.
According to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Carroll and three family members are facing charges including corrupt organizations, promoting prostitution, conspiracy, and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity.
The charges stem from a multi-year investigation into Totally You Fitness and Spa, where investigators allege that commercial sex was being sold under the guise of licensed massage therapy.
The Blue Coats Erie stated that Carroll informed the organization immediately upon learning of the charges and voluntarily removed himself from his leadership role, in accordance with internal policy.
“In light of this very serious and saddening news, Brother Roscoe informed us promptly and stepped away from the team, as required by our policy prohibiting participation by members with active criminal complaints,” the organization said in a prepared statement. “While we are shocked, we remain committed to due process and will continue to pray for Brother Roscoe and all those involved.”
The group noted that Carroll has served with the Blue Coats Erie for over 20 years and expressed continued personal support for him while emphasizing a clear separation between the charges and the mission of the organization.
“This matter has no connection to the mission of The Blue Coats,” the statement said. “We respect the legal process and ask the public to allow that process to unfold before making judgments.”
The Blue Coats also acknowledged the role of law enforcement and the justice system in addressing exploitation and criminal activity.
“We deeply respect the work of law enforcement as they protect our communities. We ask the public for patience and grace as the facts come to light,” the statement concluded.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
