It was the moment Erie Otters fans have been waiting for, watching Matthew Schaefer take the stage at the NHL Draft.


Schaefer was selected first overall to the New York Islanders and fans had the opportunity to watch the moment downtown at Voodoo Brewery.

Through personal family losses, and injury, it's been a difficult journey.


But it's a moment the Erie community will never forget.
