A $1.9 million resurfacing project is set to begin next month on a busy stretch of Route 322 in Crawford County, aiming to improve driving conditions through Meadville and West Mead Township.

The work will cover 2.68 miles from Linden Street in the City of Meadville to Wilson Chute Road in West Mead Township.

The project includes milling and paving, as well as drainage upgrades, shoulder repairs, rumble strip installation, and new roadway markings.

Construction is scheduled to start July 14, weather permitting, and wrap up by October 31.

Motorists should expect lane restrictions, changing traffic patterns, and delays during work hours, with flaggers managing traffic flow.

Shields Asphalt Paving Inc. of Valencia is handling the work. The contract is valued at over $1.9 million and is funded by both state and federal dollars.

This project is part of PennDOT’s broader 2025 construction season in the Northwest Region, which includes more than 100 projects. Details are available in the 2025 Construction Book.
