Giant Eagle has completed the sale of its GetGo convenience store and WetGo car wash businesses to Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., a global convenience store operator.

The transaction, effective June 29, includes approximately 270 locations across the region.

Despite the change in ownership, customers will continue to use the popular myPerks loyalty program at both Giant Eagle and GetGo locations.

The partnership between Giant Eagle and Couche-Tard will maintain and expand the program, preserving reward and discount opportunities for shoppers.

“This sale marks a major milestone in our history,” said Giant Eagle President and CEO Bill Artman. “It allows us to invest more deeply in our grocery and pharmacy businesses while keeping one of our most valuable customer programs in place.”

Couche-Tard President and CEO Alex Miller praised the GetGo team and expressed excitement about welcoming them into the Couche-Tard family. “We see strong potential in GetGo’s food offerings and loyal customer base,” he said.

To celebrate the completed sale and new partnership, GetGo will offer customers a free self-serve beverage and triple myPerks fuel rewards at all locations on July 19 and 20.

Giant Eagle also finalized the sale of its wholesale motor fuels distribution business to Cary Oil Company.

The company plans to roll out new initiatives soon focused on expanding services and value at its more than 200 supermarket and pharmacy locations.
