Allegheny Eclipse Color Guard Debuts in Warren County
Warren, PA - Twenty-five years ago, a group of young performers from Warren County made their mark on the national stage. The Eclipse Winterguard, made up mostly of students from the Sheffield area, traveled the country, winning awards and building lifelong memories.
Now that same spirit is being reignited.
In a gesture of support, community members donated color guard equipment to help launch the new group, called Allegheny Eclipse.
It's a community driven project that not only honors the past but also gives local women and men a chance to stay active, make new friends, and keep their love of color guard alive.
The group made their debut parade appearance at Pine Grove Days in Russell and have a second public appearance set for the Fourth of July parade in downtown Warren.
“This is more than just color guard,” said Allegheny Eclipse founder, Amanda Beil. “This is about honoring our past, connecting with like-minded individuals, making new friends, and giving adults in our area a space to perform again."
The group is open to adults across the county and is driven entirely by volunteers and local support. Organizers say it’s not only a way to preserve a beloved tradition, but also a fun and active outlet for friendship, creativity, and fitness.
“Several of our team members were in the Eclipse Winterguard and have not twirled in over twenty years," stated Mari Ireland, Color guard Co-Director. "I am very proud of what we did in Eclipse and take a lot of pride that their name was brought into this guard. We chose the name Allegheny Eclipse to pay tribute to the original group and added Allegheny to it because of where we are from."
"As adults we rarely get or make time for ourselves," Co-director Laura Bunce, added. "So, it's been really nice to have this little piece of friendship and all the fun that comes with it."
In addition to their parade appearance, Allegheny Eclipse is hosting an upcoming spin clinic for people who are interested in learning more about color guard.
No experience is required, and anyone 18 or older is welcome to attend.
