A man is dead following a shooting involving a Pennsylvania state parole agent in the City of Erie on Wednesday night, according to a news release issued Thursday.

It happened at E. 27th and German St. around 10 p.m.

Investigators said the parole agent fired a department-issued pistol at a man who was hit by gunfire.

The man died from his injuries, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Its Troop E Criminial Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.
