New Erie Schools Superintendent Launches Listening Tour for Families
As part of a district-wide effort to shape the future of Erie's Public Schools, newly appointed Superintendent Dr. Natalyn Gibbs, Ed.D. will host a series of Listening and Learning Engagement Sessions aimed specifically at parents and caregivers.
The community events are part of a larger listening tour Dr. Gibbs has been conducting with educators, staff, and administrators to better understand what makes the district shine, and where it can improve. Now, she’s turning to families to ensure their voices help shape the district’s strategic direction.
Four public sessions have been announced:
•July 10 at 3:30 p.m. — McKinley Elementary School (in partnership with the Urban Erie Community Development Corporation; focused on English Language Learners)
•July 14 at 5:30 p.m. — Booker T. Washington Center, 1720 Holland St.
•July 15 at 5:30 p.m. — MLK Center, 312 Chestnut St.
•July 21 at 5:30 p.m. — JFK Center, 2021 E. 20th St.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for the evening sessions. Each will offer food, door prizes, and a welcoming environment for families to share their ideas, concerns, and hopes for the future of Erie’s schools.
The format and content will be consistent at all three evening events, allowing families to attend whichever is most convenient.
More information is available through Erie's Public Schools and its community center partners.
