Greene Township to Host First Annual 'Ruck the Trails' to Support Local Veterans
Greene Township Parks and Recreation is launching a new community initiative aimed at supporting veterans in need with its First Annual Ruck the Trails event, set for Sunday, July 20, at Paradise Trails, 9333 Tate Road, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Open to the public, the event encourages participants to fill a backpack with essential donated items and take part in a 1-mile ruck walk along the township’s scenic Paradise Trail.
All collected goods will be donated to EUMA (Erie United Methodist Alliance) and local veterans experiencing hardship.
Following check-in, participants will hear brief remarks from organizers and special guests before setting out on the walk.
For those unable to ruck, volunteer roles are available at water stations and logistics areas.
Suggested donation items include:
•New kitchen and bath towels, washcloths, blankets, and potholders
•Laundry detergent
•Coffee and coffee filters
•Personal hygiene products
•Non-perishable foods such as rice, peanut butter, soups, and canned beans
•Clothing essentials
The event combines physical activity with community service and provides a meaningful way to give back to those who have served. Early arrival is encouraged, and participants are asked to check in with the Parks and Rec Committee upon arrival.
