Warren, PA — The red carpet is rolling out later this month as a locally filmed action thriller returns to where it was made. Valley View Motel, a feature film shot in and around Warren, will be shown during a special screening on Saturday, July 26th at the Struthers Library Theatre.
The movie comes from Four Eighteen Films, an independent production company led by Kevin Ignatius, a Warren native, and Nick Psinakis of New York City. The duo, co-wrote, directed, and starred in the project.
“Being a Warren native, it means a lot to be able to do this - to bring movies and people here to my hometown," said Ignatius. “This is our third film that we have filmed in the area, largely due to the feedback from the community and businesses. There is such a great spirit and morale here, and that's a big reason why we have continued to make movies here. The support we got from the community, and continue to get, is incredible.”
Production took place across multiple locations in Warren County, with local businesses eager to participate. Shops, restaurants, and other properties were used as filming locations, and dozens of Warren residents were cast as extras or given minor character roles.
“I feel like you really don't need to be in a big city anymore to do this kind of work," explained Psinakis. "We are beginning to see this more and more, a lot of people in Hollywood are doing this as well, bigger names too. To be able to film in a small town is a unique experience, and people here are excited to be involved and to help - and it makes a big difference when it comes to the final project."
The event at Struthers Library Theatre begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes a red-carpet experience, photo opportunities with movie props and costumes, and a moderator-led discussion panel with cast members and production team. A vinyl DJ will also be performing at Sally’s Encore to keep the celebration going.
“Four Eighteen Films have really been incredible at bringing the community together," stated Eric Morelli, Struthers Library Theatre Artistic Director. "They have been very conscientious and deliberate with the way that they have filmed, using local businesses, locations and even local actors. So, when they approached us about hosting the event here at the theatre and then giving the theatre the proceeds for fundraising - we were very happy and excited to be a part of it all."
"We will be giving everyone a full red-carpet experience," added Bailey Hoffman, Struthers Library Theatre Marketing Manager. "There will be a live vinyl DJ at Sally's Encore Theatre Bar, props, costumes and cars from the film that people can look at before and after the viewing, and we will also be moderating a Q&A session after the film as well."
