A construction barrier in front of the Erie Art Museum’s Customs House is getting a creative makeover, thanks to local muralist Raeann Krueger.

Commissioned by the Museum, Krueger began transforming the plain structure into a vibrant public art piece during the week of July 4. The mural will culminate in a community art event in August.

The temporary mural project is part of the Museum’s efforts to beautify the area during ongoing structural improvements to the historic Customs House.

“I was excited to help out with this project because art, music, and culture is essential to our community,” said Krueger. “The Erie Art Museum is such an inspirational and educational place that offers our community the opportunity to learn and get inspired.”

As part of the project’s final phase, Krueger will lead a community art session on Sunday, August 10, from 2 to 4 PM during the Museum’s Second Sunday program.

Families and visitors of all ages are invited to paint and draw alongside the artist. Supplies will be provided by the Museum.
