Route 6 Construction in Crawford County Enters Final Phase
Traffic is expected to start using the reconstructed lanes of Route 6 in Crawford County starting next week, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Tuesday.
The reconstruction project is entering its final phase, and traffic will start using the lanes July 21, weather-permitting.
The roadway will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and drivers should expect lane restrictions, flaggers, and occasional detours near Stan Rd. and Reynolds Ave.
Phase 3 of the project includes updates to the intersection with Bessmer St. and Reynolds Ave. Additional drainage updates will be made and the existing pavement from the southern side of the road and the temporary crossover will be removed. Construction of the multi-purpose travel in the area formerly used by westbound lanes will also be complete along with landscaping.
A temporary traffic signal near Service Road and Meadville Forging Company in West Mead Township will remain in place but will only be used as needed to complete work.
The reconstruction project, which covers a 2.5-mile stretch in Meadville and West Mead Township, started in August 2024 and is on schedule for completion in fall 2025.
