The Crary Art Gallery will open its newest exhibition, Visions of the National Parks and Beyond, on Friday, August 2, offering a scenic journey through America’s most iconic landscapes as seen through the eyes of six regional artists.

The show features works by Thomas Annear, Wendy Bale, Angela Caley, James Hoggard, Tom Janik, and Thomas Paquette. Visitors will encounter vivid portrayals of national parks from the Smoky Mountains to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, expressed through oil, acrylic, gouache, photography, mixed media, and cut paper.

The Gallery says each artist brings a personal connection to nature. Annear reflects on the balance between conservation and accessibility, while Bale uses her art to foster friendships through shared love of the outdoors. Caley invites viewers to see new perspectives through her creative process. Hoggard focuses on the quiet stillness of the wilderness, Janik captures natural beauty through award-winning photography, and Paquette offers richly layered paintings shaped by extensive travel.

An opening reception will be held August 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. and includes artist talks. The exhibition runs through September 7, with gallery hours Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
