The Audubon Community Nature Center is buzzing with excitement for the unveiling of a new interactive exhibit all about honeybees, created by regional artist Wendy Bale. The public is invited to a free opening celebration on Friday, August 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The exhibit features 22 intricate paper-cut illustrations designed by Bale in collaboration with Audubon educators. Installed inside hexagon-shaped cells on a custom-built wooden honeycomb display, each colorful panel illuminates to reveal additional information when a button is pressed, making the display both artistic and educational.

Attendees at the unveiling event can meet the artist and educators, explore the exhibit, view a live honeybee hive, and enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages. While walk-ins are welcome, reservations are encouraged at AudubonCNC.org/events or by calling (716) 569-2345.

“This interactive display makes learning about bees fun,” said Bale, a member of the Guild of American Papercutters. “The challenge was creating art that’s beautiful when viewed normally but reveals something even more engaging when backlit.”

Known for her work in paper sculpture, Bale’s creations have been exhibited in galleries across the country. More of her work can be seen at WendyBaleArt1st.com.
