This was an exciting day for the Curry family of Erie and for Greater Erie Area Habitat for Humanity.

The Curry family, John and Ater and their six children are getting ready to move into their brand new home.

They gathered with family, friends, Habitat staff and volunteers  - including Senator Dan Laughlin and his wife Peggy an engineer with Parker Hannifin Erie, to dedicate their new home at 2112 East Lawn Parkway.

Habitat broke ground on build number 78 last October, and 9-months later the Curry family is now able to say that they are homeowners for the first time in their lives.

The family's six children ranging in age from 3 to 15 had a chance to see the finished home for the first time.  It has a spacious kitchen, 5 bedrooms and multiple bathrooms.

After being chosen for a Habitat build, John and Ater had to put in a required 300 hours of sweat equity -- helping professionals and volunteers to build their home.  They learned a lot in the process and they feel blessed and ready to reach the finish line.
