Ozzy Osbourne Dies at 76, Rock World Mourns Heavy Metal Icon
Ozzy Osbourne, known as the legendary Prince of Darkness and one of heavy metal’s most iconic voices, has died at 76.
“Heavy metal is nothing without Black Sabbath,” said Jay Skrypzak.
“I remember watching him back in the day — the first time seeing him live at a concert. He was just a terrific showman,” one local fan recalled.
The train had reached its final stop.
His death comes just weeks after he reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for a farewell show in England.
“It’s very sad he passed away, but he was very sick,” added Jay Skrypzak. “He still put on an amazing performance a couple of weeks ago. I watched it live — 5.3 million people did. They donated $190 million to charity.”
At the 8 Great Tuesday Music Festival, the amps were loud, but the loss of a legend spoke louder — fans shared raw emotions over Ozzy’s passing.
“He’s pretty big in Australia. It was pretty shocking to hear he had passed away,” said Taj Farrant, headliner at 8 Great Tuesday. “Me and his son Jack have spoken on the phone a couple of times — they’re really nice people. It’s just really sad to see something like that happen.”
