A special blood drive will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Humes Chrysler Jeep Dodge & Ram in Waterford to honor Rachel, a local woman battling a rare and aggressive form of soft tissue cancer known as Uterine Leiomyosarcoma (LMS).

Rachel required multiple blood transfusions following surgery and continues her fight with gratitude for the life-saving blood donations that have helped sustain her. In her honor, the Community Blood Bank is hosting this event to raise awareness and collect blood for Rachel and others facing cancer.

Even today Rachel continues fighting strong, Rachel's mom shared in a Facebook post: "The irony is not lost that the day before we hold a blood drive in Rachel’s honor, she needs to have a transfusion. Her chemotherapy treatment is wearing on her. She is fighting cancer with grace, strength and a much needed blood donation. Please if you can, donate."

   •Must be at least 17 (or 16 with parental consent)

   •Must weigh at least 110 pounds

   •No tattoos or piercings within the past 3 months

   •Be in general good health and eat before donating

   •Photo ID is required
