Ribbon Cutting Set for Gateway District Disc Golf Course in Erie
A new community disc golf course is officially opening on West 8th Street, and local schools and partners are inviting the public to help celebrate. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Gateway District Disc Golf Course will take place on Thursday, July 24, form 4-6pm hosted by Erie County Community College (EC3), Montessori Regional Charter School (MRCS), and Cathedral Preparatory School (CP).
“This is a momentous occasion for our Erie community,” said Carolyn Dunn, Director of Advancement at EC3. “Thanks to the partnership of these educational institutions, along with the Lake Erie Disc Golf Club and Millcreek Township, this course will enhance the Erie region.”
The event will include an introduction to disc golf for newcomers, light refreshments, raffle prizes, and remarks from community and education leaders. Guests will also have the chance to walk the course and learn more about its features and use.
Mark Zielinski, CEO of MRCS, highlighted the broader benefit of the course: “The Gateway District Disc Golf Course provides a meaningful opportunity for engagement, not only for our students and families, but for the greater Erie community as well.”
