Warren, PA — A new chapter is underway at Warren General Hospital as Dan Grolemund steps into his role as Chief Executive Officer.
For Grolemund, the position carries personal meaning—he was born at Warren General and grew up in the community he now serves.
“This is my community,” Grolemund said. “These are my friends, my family, my neighbors that we serve here. So that is my connection here.”
Grolemund assumes leadership during a time where the landscape of healthcare is constantly changing, but says his priorities include supporting staff, enhancing patient care, and building stronger community ties.
One of his key goals is workforce development—especially encouraging the next generation to consider careers in healthcare. To help do that, Grolemund says the hospital is expanding its outreach to local schools, including the Warren County Career Center.
As a part of that mission, Grolemund plans to meet with leadership from the Warren County School District and the Community Foundation of Warren County, schedule in-person speaking events at area schools, and potentially offer scholarships to interested students.
“We want students to be aware of all of the rewarding careers in healthcare," Grolemund said. “We will be meeting with the school district of Warren County and will be talking with the Community Foundation as well. We want to introduce our kids in Warren County to healthcare through tours at the hospital, a speaker series where nurses, therapists, and other healthcare specialists visit the schools, and then of course - internships. I think that through those initiatives we may be able to get students interested in healthcare and then hopefully with the support of the Community Foundation, work on scholarship opportunities for those students as well."
He sees it as one part of a broader effort to address long-term staffing needs in rural healthcare and to encourage young people to stay and grow in the region.
As for his broader vision for Warren General, Grolemund said his focus remains on consistency, safety, and service.
“Our vision is based around high quality care, safe with outstanding customer service,” he said. “We want everyone who comes in to have a great patient experience. And we all take that so seriously.”
Grolemund says he’s honored to serve the community that raised him and is committed to leading the hospital with a focus on connection, care, and long-term stability.
