A blood drive in honor of Rachel Clark will be held at Humes Chrysler Jeep Dodge & Ram in Waterford on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rachel diagnosed with Uterine Leiomyosarcoma (LMS), a rare and aggressive soft tissue cancer that required multiple blood transfusions needed to save her life... a disease that Clark continues to fight to this day.

Matt Clark, her father and General Manager of Humes Chrysler Jeep Dodge & Ram, has been with her every step of the way and talked about the journey Rachel has been on since the diagnosis.

"It has been pretty difficult but we are keeping the faith and we have a lot of reason for optimism," Clark said.

Clark also credited the Community Blood Bank with not only helping Rachel but always being there for the entire community.

"We found out firsthand how important it is and it truly is lifesaving.

"To see the dedicated folks that are there and the ongoing need for blood between cancer patients and people who need operations...there really is a never-ending need," Clark said.

He also said that Thursday will be an emotional day for the entire family seeing the community rally around them and help them out, just as the Clarks have done for so many others.

"Rachel is humbled and emotional and it gives her reason to stay positive because there are so many folks that are supporting her and love her and we are happy to be a part of the community here," he said.
