PA State Beekeepers Association hosts live Bee Display at Tom Ridge
The Pennsylvania Beekeepers Association has buzzed into town. This is all a part of the nonstop fun filled week of Discover Presque Isle. The organization has a live honeybee display at the Tom Ridge Center and visitors are able to get an up-close look at a swarm of bees. This unique educational experience is hosted by beekeepers. The experts talk about the role of bees in our society and how we can all help protect them. Honeybees are crucial for agriculture and ecosystems. Leaders of the Beekeepers Association say honeybees are in trouble. Researchers are working hard to understand the declining bee population. Some reasons they are disappearing are poor nutrition, pathogens and pesticides. For ways to help the organization's cause visit their website P4_Complete.pdf.
