Warren, PA - The Allegheny Diamond Divas 12U travel softball team has been adapting their practice schedule as high temperatures continue to impact local athletes.

With temperatures soaring into the 90s, coaches have shifted practice times later in the day to avoid the worst of the heat. Coaches emphasize the importance of keeping players hydrated throughout practices to ensure their safety.

“We’ve been making sure the girls are hydrating before, during, and after practice,” said Adam Cassell, Allegheny Diamond Diva Founder. “It’s tough in the heat, but it’s also great conditioning as long as we stay ahead of it.”

"We've also moved our practice times, " added Hunter Geckle, Co-founder and Coach. "Instead of coming out here at 3pm we have moved it to 6pm because there was close to a ten-degree difference, but just because it's hot doesn't mean we can't practice."

Parents are also actively involved in helping players stay safe during the hot weather. Jessica Benjamin shared, “I pack extra water, cooling towels, and check in with my daughter. All of us bring extra water too to ensure that all the girls stay hydrated.”

"It has been really challenging," said Darren Cummings, Co-founder and Coach. "A lot of our little league games got canceled this season due to the rain and then when we went to start this - it was like a light switch went off from cool and rainy to nothing but heat."

Despite the challenges of practicing in the heat, the team is staying focused and prepared. The Allegheny Diamond Divas will play their first tournament game Friday July 25th at 6:30 p.m. in Fort LeBoeuf.
