Warren Police Department Receives Premier State Accreditation
Warren, PA - The Warren City Police Department has received one of the highest honors in law enforcement across Pennsylvania—Premier Status Accreditation from the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission.
At a recent city council meeting, Chief Joseph Sproveri accepted a plaque and certificate from retired Chief James Adams, who now serves as the accreditation program coordinator for the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association.
Warren is now one out of the 5% of departments across the Commonwealth to earn the Premier Status designation.
The accreditation offers several long-term benefits to the department and the community. It provides a solid framework for evaluating agency practices and procedures, helps lower liability insurance costs, and improves relationships between law enforcement and residents. It also encourages proactive problem-solving and ongoing improvements within the agency.
“We entered the program in 2010, and we just received our third consecutive accreditation," stated Chief Sproveri. "We are now one of the Premier accreditation agencies in the state."
Mayor David Wortman also praised the department, saying, “We are incredibly proud of the work Chief Sproveri, Sargent Bees, and their team have done. Having an external evaluation of this caliber, speaks to how hard these men and women work in the Warren City Police - and the city of Warren could not be more proud of them, and fortunate to have them serve us."
The accreditation lasts for three years and must be renewed through a comprehensive reassessment to maintain the status.
The standards are regularly updated to reflect best practices in modern policing.
