Warren, PA — A little rain didn’t stop the noise—or the crowd—at Pellegrino’s Creekside Pavilion, as more than 500 people turned out for a high-energy night of punk rock and metal headlined by the internationally known band Green Jellÿ.

Formerly known as Green Jell-O, the band made headlines in the early 1990s after a legal battle with the gelatin company forced them to change their name. Since then, they've continued to tour the world, performing at both large-scale venues and smaller, overlooked towns—like Warren.

“I make it a point to go play where nobody goes and plays,” said frontman Bill Manspeaker. “Because nobody makes the effort to go out there. I don't do it for anything else except for the connection. But I'm playing Thursday in Los Angeles, I fly to Pennsylvania, play Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and after the show Saturday, hop on the plane and I’m home.”

The event featured multiple punk and metal acts including The Anxiety Effect, 7Wordz, Fever Hawk, Stereo Death, Khandria, Ish, and the Elektra Kings.

Organized by Dan Cull, an Ohio native who moved to Warren several years ago with a mission to bring music and larger events to the area.

“We want to do something for the community,” Cull said. “And this couldn’t be any better, this is what we’re all about. After seeing this crowd and seeing what can happen right here in Warren - we’re going to do a bunch of shows and have tons of fun—because that’s what we do."

Even a sudden downpour didn’t dampen spirits. Fans danced, moshed, and sang along under umbrellas and tarps as the music played on.

The show marked one of the largest crowds the pavilion has hosted this year and served as a reminder that big sound still has a place in small-town venues.
