National Fuel Announces Rate Increase for Pennsylvania Gas Customers Beginning August 1
National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation has announced an increase in natural gas supply charges for Pennsylvania customers, with the adjustment set to take effect August 1. The change will raise the average monthly bill for a typical residential customer by $9.57, from $78.21 to $87.78.
The rate hike is largely attributed to rising market prices for natural gas. According to National Fuel, gas supply costs are passed directly to consumers with no markup or profit to the company.
The updated rate is slightly higher than anticipated in National Fuel’s December 2024 filing, which had projected an average August bill of $86.59. The new price-to-compare gas commodity charge will be $.56478 per 100 cubic feet (ccf), a benchmark used by consumers considering alternate gas suppliers.
Gas supply charges are reviewed quarterly, meaning the next potential rate adjustment could occur on November 1, 2025.
