Community Event Supports Children with Special Needs in Warren

Warren, PA - A group of local parents are working to bring sensory-friendly movie nights to children with special needs in Warren County.
This is the third event for organizers, partnering with SilverStar Cinemas in North Warren.
To help fund the October movie night, organizer George Mead is hosting a dodgeball tournament on Saturday, September 13th at the Farm Colony baseball fields in North Warren. It’s $100.00 to register a team of 6-8 players, with half of the proceeds going to the winning team and the rest supporting the free movie night.
“We want these kids to enjoy a movie, without feeling overwhelmed - and without families worrying they're being judged,” Mead said. "For some of them, they've never done something like this before. It might not be life-changing, but it's meaningful - and a lot of fun."
SilverStar Cinemas in Warren will once again host the event, which has grown from just one theater to now using all three screens. “We keep the lights on, and lower the sound — they are also allowed to move about freely if they need to," said Liam Cramer, the theater’s owner. "We like to do these events and put the community first. This is one way that we can give back."
There’s still time to register a team, sign up to volunteer, or donate. But organizers say the most meaningful support is showing up.
They hope the turnout helps the kids feel seen and supported by their community.
