National Night Out events happened across the region on Tuesday night.

West Ridge Fire Department was one of the many organizations who hosted families.

Community events were found in neighborhoods, community parks, and fire departments all evening long.

The goal of the event was to promote community relationships between local officials and the public.

This was the first year that the West Ridge Fire Department welcomed families at their location on West 26th Street.

The fire department is celebrating their 85th anniversary and officials said they chose to participate because there wasn't a community staple hosting on the west side.

National Night Out events continued until 8:00 p.m. at various locations including the Mercy Center for Women, JFK Center, the Belle Valley Fire Department, and the MLK Center.
