Pittsfield, PA — A new star has taken over the Warren County Fair, and he has four hooves and a pair of horns.

Jim, a young ox weighing well over 1,000 pounds, has become a crowd favorite. In the oxen stalls, he can often be found with his head stretched out near the corner by a fan, enjoying the cool air and the scratches from visitors passing by.

Fairgoers have already shared videos of Jim on TikTok and Instagram, helping him gain attention far beyond the fairgrounds.

Charlie Jones, Jim’s owner, says the attention doesn’t surprise him. "He is always getting the spotlight, but I understand why," Charlie explained. "I've had him since he was a few months old and he has always been very gentle and affectionate. Here at the fair, he sticks his head out by the fan and when people see him they get a big kick out of it. But it's really nice to see him making people less afraid or hesitant around the other oxen."

Charlie’s mother, Emily, says Jim’s easygoing nature makes him a natural favorite.
"He is really just a gentle giant. Jim and Charlie have been able to teach a whole bunch of people about what it's like to raise steer to become an ox, and how they really are very kind and gentle animals."

Another oxen handler, Loren Ferrie, was at the fair with her sister's ox, Bo.
"It's been nice to see so many people coming through and seeing the oxen," Ferrie said. "It makes me really happy to know that people like seeing them."

Jim isn’t just turning heads in the stalls — he will also be competing at the fair, proving that even the biggest stars can be gentle giants.
