The Pittsburgh-based company said it had net income of 28 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 34 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 40 cents per share.

The engineered products maker posted revenue of $516.4 million in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $526.7 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $93.1 million, or $1.20 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.97 billion.

For the current quarter ending in September, Kennametal expects its per-share earnings to range from 20 cents to 30 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $465 million to $485 million for the fiscal first quarter.

Kennametal expects full-year earnings in the range of 90 cents to $1.30 per share, with revenue ranging from $1.95 billion to $2.05 billion.
