EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Michigan Man Wanted for Millcreek Kidnapping Arrested
The man wanted for kidnapping his daughter in Millcreek Twp. was arrested Wednesday.
Jafar Almaarej, 39, of Dearborn, Mi, was wanted for kidnapping, interfering with child custody, and making terroristic threats.
Almaarej was spotted in Pittsburgh on Wednesday morning, Millcreek police Chief Carter Mook said.
The U.S. Marshals Service then followed him to the Millcreek Twp. police department with police and SWAT officers waiting to take him into custody.
Mook said he couldn't comment on the nature of the Marshal's interaction with Almaarej because his department was not involved.
Investigators previously said they were looking for a black, four-door Jeep Wrangler that they believed he was driving.
The child is safe, Mook said.
"That's the important thing is that the girl is safe," he said. "This situation could've been much worse, but she's safely being reunited with her mother very soon."
A short time later, she was seen leaving the police department with her mother, a pillow, and a duffel bag.
