Erie News Now is following the news of a priest in the Erie Catholic Diocese under investigation. It's happening as he is being reassigned from Erie County to Clearfield County.


While the re-assignment is part of a larger shift within the diocese, Pastor Ross Miceli of Saint Jude the Apostle Church will no longer be overseeing a church. He will instead be a sacramental assistant.


Erie County District Attorney Beth Hirz who confirmed there's an ongoing criminal investigation involving him, that started around February. She was not able to provide details but did say the Erie Catholic Diocese is cooperating

A statement from the diocese reads: "The diocese of Erie is aware of allegations involving St. Jude the Apostle Parish and its pastor, Father Ross Miceli.
Upon becoming aware of these concerns, the Diocese of Erie contacted the appropriate authorities and continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation. We remain committed to transparency; however, we are unable to share further details at this time due to the active investigation. "
