A priest in the Erie Catholic Diocese is now under criminal investigation.

Father Ross Miceli, pastor of Saint Jude Parish in Erie County, is being reassigned to Clearfield County.

While the move is part of a broader clergy shift within the diocese, Miceli will no longer oversee a parish. He will now serve as a sacramental assistant.

Erie County District Attorney Beth Hirz confirms there's an active criminal investigation involving Miceli which started around February. She declined to release details but confirmed that the Diocese of Erie is cooperating — and doing so in a timely manner.

A statement from the diocese reads:

“The Diocese of Erie is aware of allegations involving St. Jude the Apostle Parish and its pastor, Father Ross Miceli. Upon becoming aware of these concerns, the Diocese of Erie contacted the appropriate authorities and continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation. We remain committed to transparency; however, we are unable to share further details at this time due to the active investigation.”
