As visitors shared the Erie Zoo is clearly more than just a place to see animals — it’s a symbol of connection for both locals and tourists alike. Now that the future of the zoo is secure, we went straight to the source — the zoo grounds — to hear firsthand how people feel about what’s next.

Celina Santiago shared her thoughts: “I’m glad they’re keeping it open, because if they didn’t, I feel like most people would be sad — look how many people are here today.”

Dominique Merriwether echoed that sentiment: “Where would they go if the zoo wasn’t open today? Would they just be in the house? What would the kids do?”

Families, educators, and travelers alike praise the Erie Zoo for its educational value and the unique experiences it offers with animals.

“A lot of school districts take field trips here, and it’s just a wonderful place to introduce kids to animals," One visitor noted.

“I’m really excited because zoo camp is one of my favorite activities throughout the summer, " said Samuel Myers.

“Coming to the zoo — I love being here. The experience is great, and all the animals help the kids learn more, " Cam Rockett shared.
