Erie Business Owner Appointed to Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women

Kate Philips, CEO and president of kate & co., has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women by Governor Josh Shapiro.
Philips joins a group of statewide leaders who will advise the Governor and state agencies on issues affecting women and girls across the Commonwealth.
The Commission, re-established by Gov. Shapiro, focuses on equity, opportunity, and elevating the voices of women, especially those from underserved communities.
“I’m humbled and grateful to be selected to serve the Commonwealth,” Philips said. “I plan to bring my experience as an advocate, advisor, and employer to the Commission alongside an extraordinary group of women, including fellow Erie appointee Kristin Talarico.”
Based in Erie, kate & co. is a creative strategy firm known for its work in storytelling, design, and community engagement. Philips also serves as Chair of the Redevelopment Authority of Erie County and sits on the boards of the Erie Police Athletic League, Erie Zoo, and the Children First Action Fund.
The Commission’s role includes gathering and evaluating information on the needs of Pennsylvania women and recommending policy and programmatic improvements to the Governor.
