UPMC Hamot has earned national recognition from the American Heart Association, the American Stroke Association, and the American College of Cardiology for its high-quality care in cardiovascular and stroke treatment.

The hospital received five prestigious awards:

   •Chest Pain – MI Registry Performance Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology

   •Get With the Guidelines – Stroke GOLD PLUS with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus and Advanced Therapy

   •Get With the Guidelines – AFib GOLD

   •Get With the Guidelines – Heart Failure GOLD PLUS with Target: Heart Failure Optimal and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

   •Get With the Guidelines – Commitment to Quality Award

To achieve Gold Plus designation, a hospital must demonstrate 85% or higher compliance with dozens of quality measures over at least two consecutive years. The Chest Pain – MI Registry Award also requires multi-year performance at the highest levels for treating heart attack patients, including timely care and evidence based practices.

The recognitions come as UPMC Hamot continues to stand out in national rankings. In the 2025–26 U.S. News “Best Hospitals” list, the hospital was ranked #17 in Pennsylvania and recognized across 11 specialty care areas, including stroke, heart surgery, lung cancer, and diabetes.
