Agriculture Takes Center Stage at Warren County Fair

Cows at the Warren County Fair, Pittsfield PA
Pittsfield, PA - The barns at the Warren County Fair are bustling with activity as local 4-H members showcase livestock ranging from pigs and goats to cows and sheep.
For many of these young participants, 4-H is about more than competition — it’s about keeping farming traditions alive, making lifelong connections, and educating the community on the vital role agriculture plays in daily life.
“When you’re looking around the county, there’s not much livestock or ag related things anymore, so to see all these people come out and actually support the local farmers and the people raising the livestock - it’s amazing,” said Max Peterson, a 4-H livestock handler.
Goat handler Kylie Williams said the program has taught her responsibility and skills she plans to use well beyond the fair. “It has taught me how to handle an animal and to be responsible for something that is yours, and I’m very grateful for it. Now I have that knowledge can and use it in my future as well.”
Alissa Kranak, who has been part of the 4-H cow program for three years, said, “The cow program has opened so many doors for me. I know so many new people, and I’m just honestly very grateful for 4-H.”
For sheep owner Amie Lindvay, the friendships formed through 4-H are especially meaningful. “Through my four years here, I have met amazing people like all of the girls in my show group, and you know - it’s just so empowering. I am much better at public speaking and getting myself out there.”
State Representative Kathy Rapp, who served as a 4-H horse leader in Warren County for 15 years, praised the program’s impact. “It’s a wonderful program that helps build leadership skills and helps put our young people on the path to be a good and responsible citizen. I am very proud to have been a part of the 4-H program."
The 4-H barns and agricultural exhibits will be open through Saturday, August 9th at 10:00PM, when the Warren County Fair concludes for the year.
