If you think your dog is fast, Harborcreek Community Park was the place to be Saturday to prove it.

The Erie Kennel Club hosted the 2025 Fast CAT Competition — now in its fourth year.

Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and pedigrees chased a plastic bag lure across a 100-yard course. CAT stands for Coursing Ability Test. The dogs had to be at least a year old, but purebred status wasn’t required.

About 100 dogs registered — from sleek sight hounds and towering wolfhounds to speedy dachshunds and energetic French bulldogs. The kennel club kept score and tallied points to determine the fastest of the fast.

And it wasn’t all about speed — the club also ran a “Fit Dog” program, where pups and their owners could walk together and earn points for their efforts.
