A rabies prevention campaign is underway in northern Chautauqua County, New York.

From August 13 to 22, vaccine baits are being dropped from planes to stop the spread of raccoon rabies.

Officials urge residents to leave the baits alone so wildlife can consume them. The vaccine is safe for pets and humans.

Rabies is a serious, fatal disease if untreated, so vaccinating pets and avoiding wild animals is crucial.
