A Bradford man will spend 20 to 40 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a child over several years, according to the McKean County District Attorney on Thursday.

Andrew Silsby pleaded guilty to raping a child and other sexual offenses committed between 2016 and 2024, beginning when the victim was just 10 years old. Prosecutors say Silsby assaulted the child dozens of times.

A judge also classified Silsby as a sexually violent predator under Pennsylvania law, based on expert testimony. The district attorney sought an enhanced sentence because of the victim’s age.

In addition to prison, Silsby will serve three years of probation, is ineligible for early parole, must submit a DNA sample, and comply with all other legal requirements.

Authorities urge anyone who suspects child abuse to call 911 or the ChildLine hotline at 800-932-0313.
