Missing Fishing Boat with Amish Aboard Found, All Are Safe

At 11:00 p.m. Saturday Erie News Now reported that a search and possible water rescue was underway off Shades Beach in Harborcreek. Pennsylvania State Police, the U.S. Coast Guard, Fairfield Hose and North East water rescue all responded.
The reports that came in about 10:30 p.m. were that a 15 foot blue and white fishing boat with four Amish adults on board had been taken out earlier, and had not returned when expected.
The alerts set in motion a search of the shoreline, and of other marinas and boat launch areas along the eastern Erie County shoreline from Lawrence Park to North East.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. the missing fishing boat was spotted by the Coast Guard. Apparently it had been having engine issues and the boaters dropped anchor for safety. It's not clear why they did not have the ability to radio for assistance.
At last word the disabled fishing boat was being towed into Lampe Marina, and all who were on board were okay.
A pickup truck and trailer waiting for them at Shades Beach was moving to Lampe to meet them.
