The Meadville Fire Department is going out into the community to raise money for a good cause. This is the second year for the department's "Boot Drive" and all of the proceeds go to the Special Olympics Pennsylvania-Northwest Region. The Special Olympics Pennsylvania established the Northwest Region in 2023, to serve more than 1,000 athletes in Clarion, Erie, Forest, Mercer, Venango and Warren Counites. Members of the Meadville Fire Department will be on several streets surrounding the city's Fire Department collecting donations. Monies raised pay for equipment and expenses for Special Olympic Games. The Boot Drive will take place August 20 from 9am-4pm. The organizers are accepting cash donations or checks which can be directly made out to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania. Make sure to see a member of the Fire Department before you write out your check.
