A new Lake Erie research facility will open in Fairview Wednesday.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will operate the 2,800 square foot facility on the grounds of the Fairview State Fish Hatchery.

It contains a research laboratory, library, conference room, and office space.

The facility will employ three full-time biologists, seasonal biologist aides and a Waterways Conservation Officer.

They manage fisheries for Pennsylvania's portion of Lake Erie.

It replaces a leased office space that has been used by staff since 2020.
