Two western New York homeowners have been ordered to appear in court after moving to another state and leaving their dog in their Westfield home, according to police.

In August, police went to the home of George Travis, 61, and Angel Travis, 23, after it was noticed they hadn't been home in several days.

Police found their dog in their former home without food or water. There were also feces throughout the home, police said.

The dog had not gotten care for several days.

Police took the dog to an animal shelter, where it is doing well, they said.

The Travis's face charges of animal abandonment.
